One lone reishi on a dead hemlock.

Cook Forest was my first stop in the Eastern Boletus edulis hunt. It is an old growth hemlock and pine forest. I found lots of boletes. There are photos below. Most I could identify if I took the time, but I will not. Feel free to do it yourself and post your knowledge here.
I found nothing that resembled B. edulis. I found only a few chanterelles and Ganoderma tsugae was in short supply. It was a very cold spring, with a hard freeze in May, and a rather chilly summer until August. That may have affected output.
Unlike previous trips through Cook Forest, no bears came close to crashing into my car. Cook Forest is a nice place to visit. Even without the B. edulis.
