My next stop was Abrams Creek Campground near Mt Storm, WV. I highly recommend this place. I stayed in the lodgehouse, but it has cabins, tipis and regular campsites. I used this as a base camp for 2 nights.
I did not search the grounds for mushrooms until the morning I left, but I will post some photos of what I found here. No edulis, but a few mushrooms for the pot. And a salamander, which perhaps did not appreciate camera flashes in its eyes, but emerged unscathed from its encounter with the human.

Salamander

Edible lactarius, similar to L. volemus, but the species name escapes me at the moment.

Jack O’Lantern mushroom. Toxic but not known to be deadly.

Jack O’Lantern and Chanterelle shown together at Abram’s Creek Campground. One is toxic, one is a choice edible, they both look alike sometimes.
